Mothership by bhippy Mothership by bhippy
This I did as a front cover of a book a friend of mine is writing.
The ship is, basically, a 12 km long mothership that drops off a massive terraforming/power-station ship at each planet it visits. The mothership travels a figure of eight course, through the galaxy, dropping off fourteen of these dropships. So, by the time the mothership gets back to the first planet it visited, the dropship would have completed the terraforming process and started generating enough power to run the planet.
Or at least that’s the theory.

Much appreciated. It looks very amazing. Is this ship thought to be a generations-ship? Or does it use FTL?

The ship travels at close to light speed. This is so the crew can drop off a terraforming ship, let it do it's thing for a few hundred years (normal time), and then, according to relativity, come back a couple of years later (ship time) to find a fully terraformed planet.

thanks for the favs

Damned beautiful design and concept. Is this meant to be an Earth ship or is it alien in origin?

This is an Earth Ship, sent out to terraform fourteen planets for an overpopulated human race.
Glad you like it. :)

I'm not sure I know what you're talking about. I've never played the game and in fact your statement concerned me enough to trowl through the ship catalogue for that game to make sure there were no copyright issues. None of their ships look like mine, so thanks for the comment but please, in future, don't tell an artist their original work is copied from a game unless you are absolutly sure.
I'm sorry if it sounds like I'm having a go at you, I'm not. It's just that sort of statement can be insulting to most artists.

Once again thanks for the comment and sorry about the hard nosed answer.

They have misunderstood me ^^.
I wanted to point only to him blamed they last a player of this play.
I have to criticise nothing at the picture I find it very good.
But it just looks similar to a ship from aforesaid play alarmingly (what is, however, nobody problem).

Excuse my Englisch is very bad.
And I repeat, it should be no reproach.
I find this very impressive, the more because I them believe them this never play played.

Good Work^-^

Difficult to mince words when your jaw is on the floor, LOL ;-)

It's an amazing picture, and captures some of the awe of science-fiction that I personal think has been missing for a while.

Good, Good, Good. But don't forget about the talking monkeys. I have a feeling they'll be the key to the success of this book. :)

I not sure about it looking like the whale probe, that was just a cylinder with a light sticking out the bottom of it.
Funny, that probably took thousands of dollars and months of work to create that prop back then. Now I could do the same thing in twenty minutes! now if only someone would pay me the thousands of dollars.

Thanks for the comment.

-tell me about it...

I learned that it took star trek guys 2 weeks to make the 1s warp effect in the TNG series intro video and I don't even want to know how much money went in to that.

anyways I'll be watching ya, from now on. :)

You're right about the loss of detail at this resolution, so I was thinking of doing a shot of just the dropship during reentry.
We'll see.

Amazing job on all the miniscule details on the ship and it's dropships...

(interesting story line ... sounds like it would be a good read, if some planet choose to fight back against be terraformed.. :D)

Cheers dude!

As for the planets fighting back, I'll suggest it to the author but I don't think it's that type of book.
I've also suggested he put some naked green alien chicks and at least one talking monkey in the book too, but again I don't think it's that type of book.
Shame.

thanks for the fav.

A talking monkey is never too far!

Don't worry, I'll get him shitfaced and persuade him then.
They could find a planet inhabited by talking chimps who have an insane need to have tea parties all the time and their main mode of transport are unicycles. Their voting system would be fantastic, just a bunch of chimps flinging shit at the candidates.
Surly that's worth a chapter?

Leave it to me, I'm on the job.
